🎬 Join the 48h LIBERfilm 🎬
Get ready for a weekend of creativity, chaos, and cinema!
We'll kick off on Friday, July 31st at 6:00 PM at
Café Engels (Herrfurthstraße 21, 12049 Berlin).
At the event, we'll go over the rules, and each team will draw a
random film genre to base their movie on.
From Friday at 7:00 PM to Sunday, August 2nd at 7:00 PM,
you'll have exactly 48 hours to write, shoot, edit, and submit your short film.
🎥 How to Join
- Gather a team (max. 8 people recommended).
- Pick a fun team name.
- Prepare your gear (phone/camera, costumes, props, etc.).
- Register your team using the form below.
- Mark your calendars — and get ready!
📝 The Rules
Every film must include:
- A randomly assigned genre
- A given character name (must be said aloud or shown clearly)
- A given sentence
- A given object (must be visibly included at least once)
- One sentence in French (or in German if the film is in French)
- Maximum length: 7 minutes
- Must begin with: 3 seconds of black screen, followed by 4 seconds titled "48h LIBERfilm"
- In the audio, any language is allowed — please add English subtitles. Subtitles can be added after the deadline (max. until August 5th), so you have more time for them.
- Final file must be under 2 GB, submitted via WeTransfer, Drive link, etc.
🚫 Note: Use of AI tools (e.g. for writing, editing, image generation) is not allowed — except for subtitling, if needed.
🎉 Screening & Awards Night
All films will be screened on Sunday, August 16th at the
ACUD Theatre (Veteranenstraße 21, 10119 Berlin). Everyone who
participates is invited to attend. A jury will select winners in the following categories:
- 🏆 Best Actress / Best Actor
- 🏆 Best Use of the Prompt
- 🏆 Best Cinematography
- 🏆 Jury's Favorite
But above all: Have fun, create boldly, and embrace the chaos of filmmaking!

We're looking for jury members! If you're not participating in a team but still want
to be involved, you can help select the winners. After the competition weekend, you'll
receive access to all submitted films and a rating form.
